Playroom Design Associate

This individual would collaborate with the entire team under the Creative Director to assist with schematic designs, drafting, renderings, presentations, and project organization.

We are seeking a creative, organized and thoughtful interior designer to join our team in bringing best-in-class play spaces to life for our clients. As a key member of our design team, you will work closely with Courtney Gault (Creative Director) and our team to develop creative concepts that align with the Greenwich Play aesthetic and achieve the client’s goals for the space. 

This is a full-time position based out of the company headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut, with a hybrid work arrangement of 2-3 days in the office per week. However, we will consider accommodating a part-time arrangement for the right candidate. Here at Greenwich Play, we value work life balance and strive to support it. At the same time, as a key member of our small high-performing team, it is essential that you meet all deadlines and responsibilities, attend meetings, and communicate with the team and clients often.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead design projects for residential and/or commercial projects, ensuring creative vision aligns with Creative Director, client goals and project budget and scope

  • Effectively manage a project pipeline with multiple projects at a time at various stages

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director, project manager on the mood board/design inspiration and space planning

  • Produce detailed design presentations, floor plans, elevations, and 3D visuals for the client

  • Source high-quality furniture, finishes, and materials within budget and timeline

  • Prepare detailed install packets for contractors and troubleshoot design issues during installs (virtually and/or on-site depending on location)

  • Ensure that all designs and selections meet safety standards and developmental goals appropriate for children 

  • Stay informed on new vendors, materials, and trends in children’s play spaces and interior design

Requirements

  • 4+ years of interior design experience, ideally in high-end residential or commercial design experience (children's spaces a plus) with a strong digital portfolio to support

  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or DesignFiles/Studio Designer) 

  • Strong eye for composition, color, and materiality 

  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail

  • Proven time management and multitasking abilities

  • Comfortable presenting design concepts, mood boards, material samples, and technical drawings to clients

  • A self-starter with a collaborative mindset and a love for play
