Magic in the Margins

Every nook is a portal; every cranny, an invitation. Sometimes the smallest corners hold the biggest adventures.

@apartmenttherapy recently declared that alcoves are having a moment, calling out the rise of “covecore” and the magic of reading nooks that let you disappear into your own little world.

We couldn’t agree more, and frankly, we’ve been on the covecore train since before it had a hashtag.

At Greenwich Play, we’ve always believed in the power of the nook. Tucked-away corners, awkward alcoves, that weird space under the stairs… these aren’t design challenges. They’re opportunities. For independence. For imagination. For quiet. For play.

Children need space to be with others, but also space to be with themselves. A well-placed nook gives a child permission to pause, reflect, or escape into a story (or a world of their own making).

It’s why we obsess over every cranny. Not just for function, but for feeling.
